I use Affinity Designer for my web design, and when not using Photoshop it is great to have some other tools at hand. It is much more usable than Photoshop and Illustrator and the price really isn’t that bad. That being said I have many comments about the Affinity Designer product.

Below are a few workflows that illustrate how Designer can be used to quickly create a new piece of printed collateral. Some of the workflows show Affinity Designer on the Mac and some on the Windows platform. For consistency, I used typeface Royal Doulton in the examples.
After getting a designer file exported from Affinity Photo, I save it out as EPS and open it in Photoshop, scaling it down. I then drop a Typekit font into Photoshop and add the required kerning. For the sake of the examples, I used Royal Doulton, but the font is entirely up to you.
For nearly all the workflows, the data is stored in the Affinity Designer files. With the DNG standard, data is stored as a XML dictionary within the clipart library in the Designer file, making it easily accessible via the Lifetime Affinity Designer Version finder pane.

I used to be addicted to Illustrator, but have recently moved on to design with Affinity. Since its inception, it has been a competitive alternative to illustrator, and for me, is an even better option. The tools are easy to use, the paths are intuitive and the features are many. Like Illustrator, I love that you can switch back and forth between the different tools. My only qualm is the font selection tool, as many fonts are not available in Design.
Expand strokes on Designer was causing me problems it was creating awful results. It almost made me rage quit and go back to Illustrator. Then I tried scaling up the object to about 10x or more bigger (click on Scale with object) and Tada! No more problems. I have found that with Designer I can usually figure out a way to solve a problem, with some ingenuity, and a few choice swear words. Sure, these nuances slow me down a bit but overall, as I get more used to them, the less they really slow me down anymore. I am just being forced to make vectors unlike I did in Illustrator. That transition is annoying to say the least. And yeah I still have to fire up an old copy of CS4 to do some other stuff, like tracing. But that isnt very often, fortunately. I think if youre really dependent on the fancy tools Illustrator has to offer, it could be a much harder transition. Another thought, too, is that I think they were focusing all of their manpower into finishing up other projects. 2019 should be an interesting year to say the least.
I use Affinity Designer because I find Illustrator to be bloated and difficult to use as a purely vector graphics editor. I do a lot of small prints which I use Photoshop for the file creation/resizing and then print them using a wide variety of printers. The more that I use Affinity Designer the more familiar I am becoming with its workflow and processes. There are issues though, as with many of its use. Text is always a problem. A few friends of mine and I can never get the placement of text exactly the way we want it to be, then find that we have to send it to a print shop to correct it and it usually requires a file recreation and resizing because that affects the text placement. It would be nice if you could place text to the pixel grid as when you need it and if that is possible that would be ideal. That said, they have been very responsive to problems and have fixed many minor issues. They have even fixed some larger problems that I asked about. Overall I have found it to work well for me.
