Yesterday I did something weird, I started filezilla and then ran the port test on my home server I mentioned earlier. I got the same screen for update to the new version (I usually dont need a newer version because it works fine).
At this point I decided to look at history and I found the change was made in the day before (15-10-2012).
All the sudden the problem with this update was gone. FileZilla starts normally without this nag screen anymore. It seems like this problem is gone so far, maybe someone should change it in the manual.
I’ve been using Filezilla for years, not on a Windows system. The last time I used it was on my Windoze laptop.
The only issue I remember having with FileZilla is using the word “server”. You know, it was the one time I tried the client/server thing. When I got the new client version (I’m not sure, the client is basically the same version), I ran it and went to the “New Connection…”. That’s when it bugged. I tried to use the server version and FileZilla got all confused and it just didn’t like the “server” word.
I tried to contact the developer of FileZilla and he told me it was no big deal and that he fixed it. He sent me the new client for the server version and it worked.
I use FileZilla regularly, but lately when I use it on a Windows system I’ve noticed it doesn’t work like a charm, I get that bug that the “server” word is a problem and it doesn’t even allow me to get to the list of online accounts.
Is this a problem I should report/fix on my own or is there someone with this problem that knows the status of it?
